As I get closer and closer to graduation and I begin looking for job opportunities and graduate school programs, I’ve asked myself: why do I like journalism? Do I want to pursue this for the rest of my life? This job can be so fast paced, why continue?
I’ve come to the conclusion that I enjoy journalism and telling people’s stories because every story I work on is something new to learn about. Every story I have told deals with people and how their lives are affected. These people open up to me and let me into their lives for me to tell others about them.
The work I am doing with VoiceBox Media is preparing me for my future in journalism because I am going out into the field and talking to strangers. I am then able to shape their story and look at different ways I can tell it, but I have to choose the best way to do it. I am also working with great peers, who all have a passion for this field, so it’s inspiring and motivating to go to work every day.
I cannot wait to see all that my friends and I have accomplished by the end of the summer!
